Kalie Wolfe and RIVALS are on the verge of a moonlit breakthrough with the release of their debut album Damned Soul.
One thing’s for certain, Wolfe and the rest of her bandmates are peaking at the right time. We were fortunate enough to be graced with revealing lyrics, impassioned vocals, and progressive arrangments as RIVALS took over the garage at RSD’s production house.
The 4-piece’s debut album Damned Soul and accompanying single produced by John Espy (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) and Aaron Edwards (Sick Puppies, Elohim, The Cab) with additional writing for drums and mixing/mastering by Cody Stewart (The Browning, Rings of Saturn, Falsifier) is starting to make waves and identify with fans.
“When I was writing this song , everyone and everything was crumbling around me. I aimed for this feeling of desperation and loneliness that I was breathing in at that time, begging for any amount of help but getting left in the dust. I wanted so badly to just feel the smallest amount of happiness, to feel like I belong somewhere, to someone or something. ‘Damned Soul’ was written for the lonely and the empty.” – Kalie Wolfe
The album has peaked over 1 million plays on Spotify since being released in February, Billboard debuted the music video, Hot Topic and Journey’s have both featured the band, while the Vans Warped Tour picked them up for select dates on the West Coast. Oh, and they’re on tour with the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus throughout the summer.
To say the least, RIVALS hard work is paying off. But it hasn’t been without trials and tribulations, heartache, and various curve balls life can throw your way while you’re trying to make your dream a reality. They continue to fight through obstacles and lean on each other as evidence in their music. Turn the volume way up, RIVALS might just become your new favorite band.
